If you are in the United States and you want to see 15 minutes of James Cameron's Avatar on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 6pm, sign up here: Fox RSVP If you are in Puerto Rico and want to see 15 minutes of James Cameron's Avatar... take out a pen and paper. The webpage for this is here. I will detail the steps here as well in English:
Make sure you don't have a job. They made the screening at 11 a.m.Make sure you are a fan of Tecnetico on Facebook (click here). This matters because the guy needs all the help he can get.Now is the FUN part! Remember the part where you couldn't have a job for this? Okay, at any point during the day Tecnetico will make an update to his Facebook profile so you will then have to be there when it happens, it could be at any point, make sure you have no meetings or you'll miss it. Then, when you click on the link you'll get to meet one of the creatures from the planet Pandora that are featured in the movie. In one of the glowing dots in their face its going to say what the name of the creature is. I think you should just quit your job now, or use up those sick days. So, you got the name? Great! Use the submit link to send a message back to Tecnetico with the name. You now must wait. This is a very complicated process and it will take hours to know if you did all this correctly. The first 10 people on August 17th and 18th and the first 15 people on August 19th and 20th will each get 1 ticket to the screening on the 21st. Yes, I said 1 ticket. You don't get to have a job, or friends.Check if you won here. But don't bother, you probably didn't.
Now, in all seriousness Why was this a 'contest' in Puerto Rico, they really couldn't get more than 50 people into the theater? They really couldn't get the theater at a more decent hour, its at 6pm everywhere else. I think this just ends up being another one of these things where the way people find out about things in Puerto Rico is different than everywhere else. I signed up to get the tickets and 20 minutes later I had a confirmation in my inbox that said that I had my two seats reserved. Yes two seats. All I want is for equality. I want Puerto Rico to have the same release schedule as the rest of the USA and if this means that I need to sit here and make fun of Tecnetico and all other buffoons who have the connections with the big studios and don't fight for equality for us, then you know what: Here I am, rock you like a hurricane. Update (08/19/2009): Edwin points out in the comments that you can also get passes from Primera Hora from a random drawing which is, in my opinion, a better way of doing it that doesn't require you to slave around your computer all day. Oh, and every winner gets two tickets link to form
